The San Diego Padres will hold its, now annual, Hot Wheels® giveaway during its August 3rd game against the San Francisco Giants at PETCO Park. The promotion is sponsored by Nestle and is available to kids, 14 and under. In the past, any leftovers have been available in the park's gift shop. I'll post any available purchase info if it is this year.

I am a Purple Passion collector, along with a lot of other HWs. I was browsing ebay today and I came across a seller who is claiming they have a rare 13th Convention baggie Passion CONVERTIBLE. They claim the shipment was lost and only recently resurfaced. They also have a number of other "Convention" baggie cars listed. To the best of my knowledge, the Passion Convertible casting only came out last year or so, not in 1999. It looks like a pretty decent custom,...

If you're into the licensed merchandise, just a reminder that this weekend is Hallmark's Ornament Preview Weekend. The yearly Hot Wheels™ ornament will be available starting today.

In addition there is a Limited Edition "Custom Otto" ornament due out for the October preview weekend. Some stores will take your name down and save one for you now, so it doesn't hurt to ask!

1997 98 short track and test track

In 1997 I purchased a hotwheels Pro Racing # 21 Citgo fully painted short track car (according to the container). But what was packaged was the primered gray test track car that was not issued until 1998. My question is, how much is this collectible worth. It is obviously a mis-packaged car from the factory. Should I try to sell it and how much should I expect? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Joe Davis called us yesterday morning to let us know that our friend, fellow collector and long-time convention staff member, Darryl Garrison had perished in a small plane crash. He was on the way home from a hobby show with two others, who also died. Many of you may have met Darryl at a Nationals or Convention where he ran the Sizzlers® races and presented the Sizzlers® Seminars. He also served several terms as President of the Dixie Hot Wheelers. He was 42 years young and is survived by...

Many people know Darryl from his long-time participation in the Conventions. He has also been a long-time member, often president, of the Dixie HotWheelers. Some may only know him as the guy who organizes the Sizzlers races at the Conventions.

A few Members at HWC found a 1995 Camaro Treasure Hunt on the bay. Well it was a fake. Now a few more are showing up there but they are being listed as(Customs). It looks to be the same car so be carful all on this car it seems some one is trying to pull the wool over every one's Eyes.

As mentioned in the March issue, Hot Wheels® Marketing is planning a cross-country road trip to end in Watkins Glen, NY on September 5th, in celebration of their 40th anniversary. Although the stops have been announced no other dates have.

A local Kansas newspaper is now reporting that Marketing's planned stop in Speed, Kansas will occur on August 24th.
