Official Weekly UPDATE - July 22^nd

Welcome to the first of our weekly, official Convention UPDATES! This is the topic where I will post updates to event and room availability and those always-popular SNEAK PEEKS! Generally, the weekly UPDATES don't start until August, but after getting the reports from the hotel and the Gadomskis last week I thought we better move that up! To summarize - EVERYTHING is going much faster than usual! At least 60% of all event tickets have already sold. The hotel is also more than 60% reserved on all nights.

Ticket sales: Ticket sales continue to be strong since opening to the public this month. If you are planning on attending, please do not wait to order, as tickets are limited! Ticket sales will end on September 8th or when the last ticket is issued, whichever occurs first.

Hotel: At this time the Hilton still has rooms in our discounted block available for all nights. But, as seems to be a continuing trend, more collectors are arriving earlier and earlier in the week! The first Sunday and Monday are almost gone! We are working on trying to get the hotel to free up more rooms at the discounted rate. If you already have your confirmation number, you should reserve your room NOW to avoid possible disappointment!

Add-on Events: All events are selling very well, as usual! But, again, if you have your confirmation packet and want to attend any of these add-on events, get your forms and money into Robin ASAP! Please be sure to mark alternate choice times on your order forms when available. The more you list, the better the chance of getting in when sessions start selling out. We will not assign you a time you have not marked as an option. All events are sold on a first come basis, while space lasts. I will use this thread to keep you up to date on sell-outs.

Yep, it's a BUS….

Volkswagen Drag Bus - #1 in the 5 car Convention Series. We start off our celebration of the 22^nd Convention and Hot Wheels® 40^th Anniversary with one of the most popular castings of all time, the Volkswagen Drag Bus! This special Convention edition, limited to only 3,000 pieces, features dark blue Spectraflame™ base paint with a black spoiler and front end. The black and white flame tampo on the sides and roof showcase the official Convention logo. Clear windows, Real Riders® tires on 5-spoke hubs and a metal interior finish off this boss bus! The Volkswagen Drag Bus casting was designed by Phil Riehlman in 1995. Graphics for the Convention version were designed by Mike McClone. The Convention logo was designed by Wayne Scott. This car is limited to a run of no more than 3,000 pieces and will premier September 30th, 2008 in the official Souvenir Salesroom, Los Angeles, CA. Official Convention merchandise will only be available in the Convention Souvenir Salesroom during Convention week.

We were able to order a VERY NICE assortment of castings this time, (Mike always tries to have something that will appeal to each collector!) and the designers did their usual TOP NOTCH job at designing great looking tampos and color combos. I think you'll all be pleased with the selection this time!
