Although our Opening Reception wasn't scheduled to begin till 5:00 pm, we had a pretty full first official
day!
Registration, Souvenir Sales and the Charity table were busy for the second day in a row, as over a third of the expected conventioneers have now registered!
Veteran convention goers will recognize most of our sales, registration and charity sales staff. If you wonder why registration and sales run so smoothly,
it's because of these seasoned and talented people!
Today was a lot of firsts, first Newsletter car giveaway session, first HWC vending machine session and first Button Bingo session. The word is everyone had a
great time!
Hot Wheels Newsletter subscribers in attendance picked up a custom (code 3) '68 Nova, in red, sporting chrome-hubbed, Real Rider tires.
The first of our two Button Bingo sessions just ended. All participants received a set of custom (code 3) red, white and blue S'Cool Bus models just for
signing up. Those who signed up early received a bonus custom (code 3) VW Drag Bus. Winners of each game received a matching gold S'Cool Bus. There were
also black and pink variations of the S'Cool Bus given out to winners of randomly chosen games.
The Opening Reception in the outdoor Century Pavillion was a great kick-off to the rest of the week! Great food and drink mixed with the warm California
weather made for a nice way to say hello to people we hadn't seen for 6 (or 12) months!
The Conventions' first autograph session was held during the Reception this evening. Guests present today for the collectors were Tom Daniel, Larry Wood,
Mark Jones, Otto Kuhni and Phil Riehlman.
It's another busy night in the rooms as well! More than half of our collector block of rooms are now occupied. By Friday night we will be in full Hot
Wheels trading mode! Enjoy!
Join us back here each evening and we'll let you in on what's been going on in Los Angeles!
